In the traditional library, students must learn the floor plan in order to locate resources. Hands-on resources are very valuable when students utilize the card catalog to locate them, along with the table of contents and index to pinpoint the desired information.

The Internet exposes students to an entirely new "floor plan," however. You now have virtual access to libraries throughout your state, across your country, and even around the world!

In the state of Michigan, every resident has free, 24-hour access to the Michigan Electronic Library (MeL), located at http://mel.org/. Here, individuals can locate magazines, newspaper and journal articles, books, and evaluated websites. When students conduct research, they can visit MeL to conveniently locate reliable, up-to-date resources.

To familiarize yourself with MeL, your next step will be to conduct a scavenger hunt for information located on this website. Please note that you may complete this assignment as many times as you like because your goal should be to locate the correct information, even if it takes you many tries to do so.
