  • September 16 - September 20

    Monday

    • Go to www.code.org and log in 
    • We will be doing Lesson 12:  Digital Design which is part of Chapter 2:  App Prototyping.  As part of this lesson, you will be learning about the app lab and creating a digital version of a prototype provided to you. 
      • Bubble 1:  First we will be looking at the Model Screen Design to learn about element ID
      • Bubble 2:  Watch the a video to learn about the app lab in Code.org
      • Bubble 7:  Tour of Design Mode
      • Bubble 11:  Design Mode Elements/IDs
      • Complete Bubbles 3-6
      • Complete Bubbles 8-10



    Tuesday

    • Go to www.code.org and finish the Lesson 12 assignment from yesterday which requires you to complete bubbles 3-6 and 8-10.  When you get to bubble 10, be sure to do the following:
      • Check over the prototype to make sure you've included everything - your screen should include all the items that the prototype does
      • Make sure your IDs match the ones on the prototypes
      • Clean up any rough edges by resizing or moving around elements to make it as close to the prototype as can be
    • Once you have finished bubble 10, you can move ahead to bubble 13 following the guidelines below:
      • Begin creating the home screen of YOUR app prototype
      • Since this is the home screen, you IDs should contain the word home in them.  You can use the recycling app prototype to give you ideas of what to name them.  Remember they should be all lowercase, use _ to connect your words, and they should describe the element they go with 
      • DO NOT click the Submit button unless you are absolutely sure your home screen is the way you want it



    Wednesday 

    • Go to www.code.org and log in 
    • If you have completed Lesson 12:  Bubbles 3-6, 8-10 as well as Bubble 13 to complete the home screen prototype of your app
    • Go onto Lesson 13 and complete the following Bubbles:
      • Go over the days's lesson about creating and linking screens
      • Bubble 2:  Create a new "about" screen
      • Bubble 3:  Add information to your "about" screen using the prototype provided
      • Bubble 4:  Create a new screen by using the import function and copying and pasting the provided URL to make a "search results" screen 
      • Bubble 5:  Create new screen by using the import function and copying and pasting the provided URL to make a "contact" screen 
      • Bubble 8 and 9:  Use block code to create an event that will take you to search results when you click on the search button
      • Bubble 10:  Use block code to create events that will link all of your buttons from the home screens to the corresponding screens and back to home again -- You will not be able to create a link from the "send" button on the Contact page

      Monday

      • Using the Prototype Brainstorming handout and the iPhone Prototype paper, begin sketching out all the possible screens you might have which may include the following items.  Also consider the buttons you might want add to take you to and from other screens. 
        • Loading screen
        • Main menu 
        • Settings
        • Help
        • Search
        • They could be many more depending on what your app is




      Tuesday

      • Watch the first half of Myth Busters Dangerous Driving episode
        • Answer the first two questions of this document before watching the episode



      Wednesday

      • Watch the second half of Myth Busters Dangerous Driving episode
        • Answer the last two questions on yesterday's document above


      Thursday

      • With a partner, complete the Distracted Driving Technology question and brainstorm activity
      • Go to www.code.org, click Sign In in the upper right, type in this 6 letter section code:  LCLDFK in the upper right and click the Go button.  
      • Fill out the form using the following guidelines:
        • Display Name:  use your first and last name
        • Email:  use your school email
        • Password:  use your sps password
        • Password Confirmation:  confirm your sps password
        • Age:   enter your age
        • Gender:  enter your gender


      Friday

      • Talk about distracted driving activity from yesterday
      • Free Choice Friday time if behavior earns it

        • No school

        • Continue working on the Choose Your App assignment from yesterday.  Remember, on the second page, you should be getting a piece of computer paper to draw three pictures.  One would be a picture of your app icon, one is the input screen of your app, and the other is the output screen of your app

        • Complete the What's for Lunch Prototype Activity
        • Go over the Prototype Element Brainstorming sheet
        • Begin creating a more in depth prototype of your app - use the phone screen handouts to draw them on using the prototype elements 
          • Create as many screens for your prototype that you think you would have
          • Use apps on phone to look at for examples




        • August 26 - August 30

          Monday

          • Went over syllabus and lab rules
          • Took Kahoot survey on cell phones 
          • Watch Video 1 on teens addiction to phones and discuss 
          • Watch Video 2 on teens and social media and discuss

            • Finish the Input, Processing, and Output assignment from yesterday if necessary
            • Begin the Mobile Apps That Need to Exist assignment
